Breathe easy

Clarity Radon Solutions provides comprehensive solutions for indoor air quality issues, including radon gas, excess humidity and flooding.

Why it Matters

Radon gas and excess humidity can not only make selling your home difficult, it can cause major health problems.

Radon gas is the leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. for non-smokers. It occurs naturally from the decay of radioactive metals in rocks, soil and groundwater. Because it is invisible, odorless and tasteless, you may not know if you are being exposed to it.

Where radon gas is seeping in to your home you may also have moisture getting in. While you may be aware of the link between radon gas exposure and lung cancer, few people know the health risks associated with excess humidity in the home.

Excess humidity can encourage the growth of mold and mildew, dust mites, bacterial and viral pathogens, foster skin issues like rashes and exacerbate existing lung issues like COPD and asthma.

Our Process

We will visit your property and determine where the unwanted radon gas, water or humidity is seeping into your home. We will then itemize these problems and propose solutions to remediate them in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, with an estimated timeline for completion. Some of the problems we typically see include:

Our Solutions

Radon Mitigation

We seal cracks in the foundation and vent air outside with a pressurized fan system that pulls radon gas up and out of your home. We offer a 5-year warranty on the fan, parts and labor.

Crawlspace Encapsulation

We use a heavy-duty vapor barrier to prevent moisture from entering, thereby reducing the humidity that can encourage mold, mildew and pests.

Sump Pump Installation

A sump pump removes water from the lowest part of the home to prevent flooding and water damage and improve indoor air quality.

Common Questions

Of course we test to ensure the problem is resolved, but it is always recommended to have a qualified, licensed independent radon inspector retest your home.

In Illinois, all radon mitigation systems require a warning in the event of a pressure issue or fan malfunction. We warranty our fan, parts and labor for 5 years.

No, homeowner policies do not cover radon mitigation or any health issues arising from radon exposure.

The EPA recommends testing every 2 years for radon. Low cost DIY test kits are available at hardware stores or local health departments. For more information on radon measurements in your home, see radon.illinois.gov.

Pricing varies based on the home and how the gas is seeping in. On average, costs range from $1,650 to $2,000 for a single family home.

DIY kits are useful for initial screening but they are not as reliable as professional screening. The accuracy depends on the quality of the kit and how well you followed the instructions. Extreme weather events can temporarily skew test results as well.
